Our Story
For three years, our life revolved around fertility treatments, surgeries, and procedures as we chased my dream of starting a family. The pandemic made it even tougher, forcing me to face appointments and treatments alone. I had to make sacrifices, like leaving my job to secure insurance coverage, which led to switching clinics and leaving behind a sense of belonging. My care team became my pillars of support, sharing my highs and lows and giving me the strength to continue my journey towards parenthood.
The first appointment at the new clinic was a crushing blow. After a baseline ultrasound, my new doctor left me in silence, only to return with a box of tissues and harsh words - I was told I was wasting my time. The statistics she shared about my chances of conceiving and the recommended aggressive treatment hit me hard. As I left, I was handed a psychiatrist's business card, and my insurance card was collected, leaving me feeling utterly defeated and hopeless about my dream of becoming pregnant.
This project was born out of this isolating experience during which I came to understand the importance of assisting both patients and health care providers to foster a cycle of support.
